Exactly what parts do you have, if you have a complete dash and everything works 150.00 that is with you buying the new bezel. I will test first, tear down, completly media blast and paint all of the metal, zero the speedo, repaint all needles, clean all gauges and buff the lens. This allso includes new or polihsing all hardware and new bulbs.
When I finish with the dash it will look like a new one.

This is probably a dumb question to most, so please forgive the ignorance...
and I also apologize for posting here, but it is fresh on my mind...

What is the vaccum gauge for?

What does it do?

<cringe for fear of rejection>

It measures engine vacuum for running accessories like power brakes.. Also, the higher the vacuum, the more efficient your engine is running.

I thought of an exhaust gauge for my wife but the would have to have a needle that had a big register.

That looks really nice PT'S 70 CST. I second joelboxt's question. Can it be done or do you have to have the tach backing plate? I can only assume that it would have to be an original tach dash for it to be done right, but anything is possible I guess.

Ok guys I have been asked this question numerous times and yes it can be done but let me try to explain the cost, if you have a regular gauge cluster and want it to be converted you will need the following, tach, lens, printed curcuit board, the backing plate that fits behind the lens. The very back backing plate that the gauges bolt up to I have converted the regular backing plate to a tach by tracing it out and cutting it with a fine cutting wheel and you cannot tell the differance in the two. You will come out cheaper if you can find an unrestored tach dash on ebay and restore it. Run down on the cost of a conversion Tach new 100.00, lens new 35.00, printed circuit board 40-70 bucks and backing plate behind the lens if you can find one used 15-30 bucks.
So you have a average cost of about 220.00 and thats not counting coverting the last backing plate which would run about 15 bucks so you would have an average of 235.00 before you ever started your rebuild, my advise buy one on ebay 150-200 and have it restored unless you can find some of these parts used which is kinda hard to do. I hope this answers your questions.
