difference between 10 and 12 bolt posi??

i can get my hands on a 10 bolt posi for the best price..FREE!! if its free its me.. just woundering if there is any major differences.. it only has 3.08 gears and its 1 inch shorter then my stock non posi rear which ill just make up in back spacing later.. a little help please??? thank you

At a minimum there will be the Ring gear size and the number of bolts holding the ring gear to the carrier(10 vs 12). 12 bolts use a 8 7/8 ring gear. The car 12 bolts are actually stronger than our truck 12 bolts.
