How do we get 5 lugs for rear?
Hey Yall,
I have a donor '86 for the front suspension, brakes, etc., but what has been done to get the rear axle to 5 lugs, short of clipping the trailing arm brackets? Are there any other rears that the axles will swap? ANy ideas or info will be REALLY appreciated. Thanks |

I've done it both ways but changing in the whole rearend from a 71-72 chevy truck is easiest, unless you are a machinist...

Chevy duty has a kit that you can use to "bolt in" the 86 rear end (requires welding)... Part # 93-313

Thanks
Thanks for the posts, I'll probably go with the "bolt-on" kit, to save my 67 rear from getting chopped up. Thanks Again

Check with either Early Classic Enterprises or Classic Performance Products for 5 bolt axle conversions. Here are their web addresses:

what I have is a 70 coil sprung rear under my 68 GMC. then I swapped the axles from a 80 donor truck. this also required the use of the 80 brakes to go with the later drums. it all bolted righ up with no problems.
I hope this helps
