Towing a 4X4
So a couple of years ago when I had my cab fire, I had to tow the old beast home. A guy here at work told me to put my X-fer in Neutral. Now knowing that when in neutral (X-fer), my front & rear driveshafts are connected, wouldn't I be better off to leave the X-fer in 2-hi (tranny in neutral) if I ever have to tow her home again?

I'd drop the drive shafts, then it doesn't matter what gear your in.

Yep took my rear driveshaft off of the 71 for the tow home from SE Ohio. front end was on a dolly. Are you flat towing. Are you sure they are connected, and it's not just the gear oil?
