headlight problem
help me i cant drive my truck because my headlights dont work when i pull the switch all of the lights come on but the headlights, i have done the relay conversion some time back could my relays be bad, sometimes the headlights come on but that is just like a fluke maybe on out of 50 times pulling the switch, what could this be.

Grounds? Have you checked those? Also I had the same problem and replaced both bulbs, dimmer switch, and headlight switch. I dont know which one of those three solved the problem but I'm driving at night now. Just replace everything
 I'm kinda funny that way. One little thing always turns into a big project.

Undo the headlight switch harness and check for power to the headlight switch from the headlight wire with it in the on position. I suspect that you probably have a bad headlight switch if it is intermittant. I bought a new one recently in Canada for $24 Canadian.

KT,
I am not a pro at this, but if you have a voltmeter, find a good ground, and work your way back from the lights. As soon as you get power, you will know where to look for bad connections and such. I would bet it is the relay, or the switch, but you can also have a bad dimmer. Check all the connections and then start looking for power. HTH JB |

Odds are it is the dimmer switch and or the plug going to it.

ah ha... i had this happen to me...
it was like, if I played with it turned the lites on and off... sometimes after 5-10 times they would come on... this was an intermittent problem until... my lil trick didn't werk anymore... It was the dimmer switch, but not before it fried the plug... melted it to the dimmer switch... had to use a generic 2 prong from advance and then use a 3rd single blade plug, werks like a charm...
I don't have the relay set up yet, but I will in the upcoming months as, I'm waitng on the wiring harness stuff until, I pull the gauges... gas gauge question? is it normally the gauge or sending unit... i would guess the sending unit would go, but what is everyones experience on this one? |
