Battery draining...HELP!
I just charged my battery and put it back in the truck and it started up like a champ. Well the next day I went out to start it and well battery had drained down a little bit and well motor would barely spin and so it wouldn't start. I checked the voltage and it was at 11.2 volts. But the day before after I took it off the charger it was sitting at like 12.6 volts and all day it was sitting around that. So I am thinking something is draining the battery overnight. What could I do to track down what could be causing this? Also when I turn the key on to go to start it my voltage gauge will go up to about 10 volts stay there for a second and then shoot on up to 12 volts. Does everyone elses vehicle do this or is there something wrong? Thanks everyone for any help...Mike

There must be a leak.
Try the Picture. If that works and you have a leak. Then start to pull fuses. Start by taking the door light one out. Leave that out. Then pull till the light goes off. When the light goes out that means thats what you have to go to there is a leak in that area. I had to do this with the 81 its a pain. Have you installed a new alt. or starter? If you have chack that first as well. I hope this helps. HINT. Helps to have help with you. SHANE

Well I went and checked to see if there was anything draining the battery and nothing the light never came on. The battery that is in there is brand new and now it seems like it can't hold a charge for nothing. Do you think the battery is just junk, can batterys just stop working like this? Thanks...Mike

Do you have tester for the battery to see if its good. if not chare it then take it to a place that can. That can tell you if its bad. Sorry that what i said before wasnt it.

test the cells with a battery hydrometer. If one cell is low, get a new battery.
