I keep seeing a slew of shortbox's for sale around Demopolis on Hwy 43 but i never have time or room (semi) to stop and see how much. I know atleast one of 7 had a 4sale sign. Probably cheap too.

It has the oil pan, block with crank, rods & pistons (one has a cracked skirt), cam, water pump, head, valve cover, intake manifold, exhaust manifold, carb., point type distributor. I need to get it gone if anyone is interested make an offer. I live near about 30 miles west of Birmingham.

I have seen a few running trucks in Huntsville for sale lately.

One is either a 71 or 72 SWB. Also a long box, and also a Suburban.

There are also two early 60's nearby. A '61 SWB step side, and a LWB fleet side.

I also saw about 15 non-running (67-72) in a local salvage yard this weekend including a C20, a 'burn with barn doors, and a yellow SWB. These were all pretty well picked over.

Let me know if you want anymore info on any of these and I will try to round it up.

The 71 SWB is on Jordan Lane just North of University Drive (Highway 72). I will be over that way on Saturday morning. I will stop and get a few more details ($, phone number, etc)

The Suburban is at a used car lot in Madison, also on Highway 72. It looks great from the road. I will try to get out that way this weekend also.

The salvage yard (Pitts) is about 1.5 miles off of Highway 72 just west of Athens. I don't recall the road name but there is a sign there for Pitts Salvage. There is small grocery store on the corner there named Posey's grocery. If you are looking for anything particular there, let me know I will try to recall what I saw last week.

There is another salvage yard near Athens I was told to check out. I don't recall the name and haven't gotten directions yet. If it turns out to be a good thing I will let you know.

Thie SWB truck is mostly green. The SWB is parked inside a fence at a U-Store-It type place. It is on the west side of Jordan lane, North of University drive (highway 72). You can take the Jordan lane exit from I-565 and go north a couple of miles. The Storage place is probably not more than a mile from Jordan Lane. If you reach the Ford dealership you have definitely gone to far.

There are two early 60's trucks a few miles further up Jordan (53) past the Ford dealership. Both are on the east side of the street. One is on a used car lot (mostly white), the other (gray primer) in front of an express oil type place. When the road becomes two lane you have gone to far.

The Sub is blue and white. I don't remember the name of the car lot where the Suburban is located. It is on 72. From Huntsville go west towards Madison. The lot is pretty much on the edge of Madison. It is located across the street from a Texaco/DQ at 72 and Nance Road. If you reach Home Depot and/or Lowes, or Hughes Road, you have gone too far.

While your in Madison, you should grab some BBQ and Sweet Tea at Thomas Pitt across from Lowes. Mmmm.

Good luck.

I got all this stuff in North Alabama ... I am about 20 miles west of Hunts-Vegas ...

Take a look at it all and make me an offer for ALL of it, or just what ya need ... the more I sell the lower the prices get.

Hey Shane,

I forgot to list a few more!

Wholesale Salvage in Huntsville also has a Suburban.

And there is a another yard north of Huntsville that has 2 trucks, one is a LWB GMC, the other a Chevy. I can't remember if it is in Hazle Green or Meridanville, but if your interested I will get you directions. (It's not Bentley though. Last time I went there, all the good stuff had disappeared.) The guy at Bentley told me he crushed lots of these trucks back in the 80's and really regrets it now.

I haven't been east of the Mountain yet but I hope to find a few more yards this summer.

The swb green/white truck at the self storage unit belongs to a board member (bestchevyfan). You can check with him on it.

I see I'm not the only one that goes to Pitts auto salvage!!!

hee hee. . . I'll never tell!

Actually there are no good 67-72 yards in Florence - just mostly newer stuff. I usually find my stuff on rural roads. Besides Pitts, there are some yards I frequent in south TN and east MS.
