What about sisepipe's or stack's on my C10 2X4?
Recently i've thought about a set of side pipes,or stack's, for my 76 GMC Sierra fleetside shortbox 2X4. I've allways thought that they were cool look'in myself, but i guess other guys dont. I dont really want a cooky cutter truck, and i dont want it to be to cheezy either. Seeing how sidepipes, and stack's, are'nt the cheepest things in the world, so oppinions would be appreciated.The C10 type PU's have a nice curve to the rocker's that would let a set of sisepipes, fit right down out of the way of things. My set up will be a 76 shortbed fleet, with a 3/5 drop, P275R60 meets, on 15X8 ralley's, plus the 350 sbc will have a bit of a cam, that would probly sound neet thru the sidepipes, or a set of stack's, up thru the bed, which do look good on 4X4's. Come on guy's oppinions please.

I remmber the the Dodge red wagon came out I was maybe in 7th or 8th grade . It had the stacks it was kinda cool. In the cool mornings seeing the exhaust steam .But I was a kid I like the side pipes on the short bed trucks . The guy next door has a old F**d and has the solid chrome covers not mesh looking ones and wide back 50s with the old craigers on it.
Maybe you need one of these guys to place it on your picture to see if looks like you want it to look . I see a lot of guys doing it with wheels .Why not pipes . I my self like them .But its got to be the right truck set up . Here is a phot from the hubcap place . |

my dad had a '76 stepside (the inspiration for my project) that he put stacks on... (black truck) and my project came with stacks when i got it...
i'm planning on running stacks on my truck... although most people think its a lil crazy... but, its a great hotrod old school look! with your truck, being a fleetside, i'd say side pipes, not stacks would be the best option... i think fleet siders that punch holes in their bed floors usually dont turn out looking too great... Wow 75stepside, the truck on the bottom is sweet with the stack's, along with the color skeem.

My first new truck was a 73 full size, 307 manual everything. Side pipes were the first mod I made. It looked good and sounded great but they were a pain to keep clean.

I personally love stacks on steppers, it fills in that gap that the stepside leaves, and really just makes it look right, at least in my opinion. However, that said, I am not a big fan of stacks on a fleetside. It just doesn't look right to me to have a pair of stacks sticking out of the bed

Yeah thats definently a nice unit, and maybe one day when you decide to go with a rollpan with tail lights in it, IMO that would realy set things off.

Oh yeah thats what im talkin about I believe you said you had a saginaw 3speed in it, if is it a 3.11 first gear tranny or is it a 2.85 first gear tranny? reason being mine is a 3.11 first gear 3 speed which came from an inline-6, and i was wandering how you liked it?

I had side pipes on my '81 C20 up until last summer. I really liked them, sounded great. Only complaint I had was that my diesel engine sooted up the wheels really bad, since the exhaust dumps directly onto the rear wheels.
When I installed my turbocharger last summer, I ditched the pipes and went to a single 4" exhaust. I originally bought my pipes from JC Whitney. Casey
