High or Low?
Got my power steering box installed. Did the frame dimple thing it lined up really well. Someone on the board suggested I loosen up the whole steering shaft to get the coupler ( rag joint ) to install easier. Did it and it worked out nice.Who ever that was THANKS.
Any way as I didn't pull the box off another truck, I don't know what is the high pressure side from the pump and which is low pressure side. The connection on the left is a little smaller diameter than the other.????

The high pressure port is the one closest to the frame. Should be the larger port.

since I have to do the same dimpling thing to my 67, would you tell me how did you measure where exactly to dimple. Also, how did you dimpled it? did you heated up and hammered it? and finally, where did you get your system?sorry to ask too many questions. Thanks |

Here is what I did.
Look at the power steering box, you will see the raised portion of the gear housing is not exactly centered between the mounting hole flanges. Measure the distance between the holes and mark the frame to correspond with the highest piont of the gear housing then mark the frame. Heat the area till cherry red and hammer with a smooth faced hammer.I test fit the box .Removed it , hammered some more untill the flanges seat against the frame. Lossen the steering wheel shaft, makes it eaiser to mount the connection ( rag joint). I used center link and pitman arm from a 70 truck. Chris
