Common Muscle Car Stuff?
I have made my decision to do a muscle car theme with my truck. My question is, what comes into everyones mind when they think "Muscle Car". I am looking for parts that can help bring my idea to life. Here's my list so far (feel free to add)
-Cowl Hood -Houndstooth/Vinyl interior -3 spoke steering wheel -Wide rear tires -Column mounted Tach -Dual exhaust (loud) with chrome tips -15" Mags (Cragars, Torq Thrusts, Slots, etc.) -Plain paint with a basic stripe pattern and engine badging -Slight Rake

I've seen the SS stripes on the hood like a Nova, Chevelle or Camaro has on a truck before with and without a cowl hood. With a cowl hood, they look great, but on the flat stock hood they don't look as good. Here's a pic of a truck I found that looks like a stock SS, and the next one is one I doctored up with a lower stripe replacing the stock wood trim.
I think the SS in the grille is a really nice touch, and may do that on my 72.

The orange truck would look good with the hockey stick stripe on it.Or maybe a rally stripe down the bottom, and over the hood like the camaros.

The SS badge in the grill is a perfect touch IMO.
If you end up with a manual...or a lokar shifter, the old classic white shifter ball...or a hurst T-handle. Both of those scream muscle car to me. Hmmm, or, if you are goin with buckets...a horse shoe shifter in a console would be perfect in an automatic truck w/muscle car theme. |

I think of a muscle cars as factory equipped with few aftermarket additions. This would be in the performance dept. With wheels, stance, and exhaust being the only visual changes.Like you say,Hugger Orange, cowl induction(that`s visual/looks factory),engine badges(the 70ish ones that are just the numbers with white paint)or "cowl induction" badges on the hood,SS454 exaust tips under bumper, maybe SS-stripes on hood, and yeah, those trusty TorqueThrusts/dark center.Don`t forget the 8-track blasting Deep Purple..."I LOVE HER!!I NEED HER!!!..."

If you want the retro muscle car look, you have to jack the back end up about 2 feet and stick some really big tires underneith, so it handles & rides like SH*t, don't forget to paint your rear axel florescent orange too. Don't waste your money on a cowel hood, go down to the plumbing supply shop and buy a couple dryer vent things ( the wedge shaped ones). Carve a couple off centred holes in your hood with and axe and stick 'em in with caulking.......... Man I'm a cynical S.O.B. till I've had a few coffee's on a saturday morning

I like the 2 stripes on the hood, but I really like the doctored pic with them down teh side. Definitely 3 spoke steering wheel or aftermarket, a Hurst 4 spd shifter if manual, TTD's are a perfect wheel, got to have white letter tires. Must have chrome tips on dual exhaust. I like the SS emblem in the grille, I'd go further and put them on the fenders too.

Since SS stripes are pretty popular, how about something different like a Camaro hockey stick stripe? Simple but makes a statement.

Actually that might not look bad! Have the stripe cut out for the engine designation right below the side marker lamp.

Two things come to mind:
- Hurst Pistol Grip Shifter - Convertible

Put on the old Hurst wheels and go with Orbit Orange, Judge stipes and Ram Air. A black vinyl top and glasspacks would be a nice touch.

The truck came with a 350 4 barrel with dual exhaust and glasspacks, backed by a Turbo 350 with a stage 2 shift kit and an open rearend with highway gears. I'll have to play around some more with the hockey stick stripe. I did the front bumblebee stripe like some camaros had, but it didn't look as good. The hockey stick kinda goes over the front of the hood and down the middle of the side correct? I think I'm thinking of the right stripe.

Look up a 69 camaro SS on the web. Within a few pictures you should see the hockey stick stripe.
