Brake Line Question
My frame and suspension are almost done and I would like to start on the brake lines. I have converted my 6 Lug Drum/Drum to a 5 Lug Disk/Drum out of a 72. Anyone have suggestions on a good place to get brake lines? I have looked at the LMC book and they list different lines for 67-69, 70, 71, and 72. Should I get lines for a 72 since that is what the brakes are out of or should I get lines for a 69 since that is what the frame is? I also have not been able to find a new T-Block that mounts on the rear end where the brake lines run through. Does anyone know if O'Reilly sells them?

I just bought and installed a stainless line kit from inline tube. I ordered them through GMCPauls.com. They came out nice but I had to do some mods because I have put on a disc brake conversion kit from ECE. Anyway, I had two problems, one is that there were no instructions so it was like putting together a puzzle because I didn't have any lines to compare. The second was since I had to change one of the end fittings, it was very hard to find someone to put a double flare on a stainless tube. All that to say, I would get the lines for the year of the BRAKES and don't get stainless.

For the front:
If the conversion only changed things at the wheels, won't all the brake lines be for the '69 drum brake set up since only hoses go to the calipers? If you changed the master cyl and proportioning valve, did the old hard lines reinstall on the disc master? If so wouldn't '69 hard lines work again? If not, sounds like mix and match time. For the rear: Do the wheel cyls hard line connections remain in the '69 position so as to still accept a oem '69 rear axle line? In any case, the rear axle lines are the easiest to bend up using tubing pre-flared with fittings available cheap at auto parts stores. Just guessing, really. Hope I haven't wasted your time.

What A-arms did you use for the front disc conversion?

here's what you get when you put an aftermarket power brake booster and proportioning valve on a '68 that had manual drum brakes....

I just installed the stainless lines on my 68 from inline tube. They fit pretty good. I ordered them directly from inline tube and recieved them in about 4 days.

Neonlarry - Used the original 69 control arms.
4X4 - I removed all of the lines from the truck due to rust. All I have is the frame right now so I will not be doing the power brakes for a while. Thanks for all of the responses.

What brake lines you get depends on the rearend you use. I called ECE, and even though they do not sell brake lines, they explained the differences in the years, and helped me identify which rearend I had...I have a 69 with a 71 rearend.
