Quadrajet and manifold question

I've got a '71 with a 307 and standard 2bbl carb. Will a '71 4bbl manifold and quadrajet fit this? Will I need to swap throttle linkage, gas lines or what all is involved? I don't want to mess with it if it's a lot of hassle.

If the manifold is off a SBC then it will fit. The only thing is that a Q-jet is more carb then that engine can handle. Unless you have a really big cam and ported heads and big headers. '71 and up I think all used cable for gas pedal so as long as the carb has the bracket on the back for the cable linkage you can use it.

I would have to respectfully disagree that the q-jet is to big for a 307. Small prmaries and a vacuum operated secondary will feed it only what if can take. Maybe some rejetting and adjustment required, but anything would beat a worn out mini 2 bbl IMHO.

Fuel line on Q-jet is 3/8 and your 307 will have 5/16 from the pump, will have to alter fuel line anyway as 2bb is in differnt location. Might be best to swap fuel pump to 350 style and run all new 3/8 steel line from pump.

BTW I have run a q-jet on a 283 in the past and currently have a holley 650 spreadbore on a cast q-jet intake on my cuurent 307, only mod is a small (262) cam.

Thanks guys. After some research I think I'm going to go with an aluminum intake and a 600cfm carb. By the time I pay shipping on a used iron manifold I can buy a nice used aluminum Edelbrock. Sounds like I should be ok with the linkage and I'll redo the fuel line.
