Guys, really need help with some mirror measurements!
So the PO graciously filled in the west coast mirror holes, and I picked up a set of the smaller mirrors (thx drnk2mny). I need some measurements so I can get the mirrors in 'close to' stock position. My truck is far from a stock nor will ever be, so I am not looking for digital caliper accuracy; say within +/-1/8" would be great- just a tape measure should do it just fine.
Please, if someone could look at these pictures, and take these two measurements for me, I would REALLY appreciate it. I can drill the holes and get these puppies installed today. Pic one- very front of mirror to front of door Pic two- very top of mirror to top of door

I have stock west coast mirrors on my 72 chevy. driver side 1) 6 5/8" 2) 2 3/4". pass side 1) 7 5/8" 2) 2 3/4". measured it twice because they were different. A quick not: The 2nd measurement was with the tape against the body, not vertical. I do not have the camera at work , otherwise i would take some pics for you.

Is the position of the west coast mirrors different then the smaller mirrors that I am trying to fit?
I thought the west coast mirrors were the larger ones that had two mounting spots on the door? Measurements might be the same, just wanted to confirm. Thanks!

I can get you the measurements tonight. Keep in mind that the passenger mirror mounts farther back than the driver side.

The bummer about this drawing in the assembly manual is that who knows where "20" and "35" are? I've got a driver door that has original mounting holes in it. I'll try to get some measurements tonight if you need them. The drawing does show that the passenger mirror mounts 1.3" farther back than the driver side.

I was just about to start this same thread. I need the same measurements to mount the mirrors as well.

Maybe this will help. The penciled line is 1 inch down from the body line.

my measurement od 6 5/8" was to the edge of the mirror like you show in your pics. you should be able to add the extra distance to the center of the hole. that will get you real close.

I just measured the two doors that have factory holes punched in them for the sport mirrors. The measurement from the front edge of the driver's door to the center of the single hole is 7". The same measurement on the passenger's door is 8" or 1" longer than the left door.
I use the gasket for locating the mirror, centering it on the mounting surface, mark the hole locations and drill the holes with a 11/32" drill. This gives you some adjustment room. Jim |

Are these measurements the same for a suburban?
