couple of questions

My vin number is CCS142Bxxxxxx.When ever I enter the vin for a parts seach or to reasearch the truck, it comes up invalid unless I leave the first "C" off. Whats the deal?

The old 250 pulls strong but burns oil and smokes and fouls plugs. It runs nice and does not ping or knock. Think a rering would solve this?

Three on the tree to a floor shift? How hard and expensive?

Welcome to THE place for 67 - 72 info. Where are you located in the world...and naturally, pics are a must if you can. (we love pics...even of beaters, like my junk)

As for your VIN question, your truck is a 72. That was a chainge in 72 that the VIN decoders didn't seem to pick up. All that first C means is that your truck is a Chevy. If it was a GMC, it would be T.
