Another header question

Hi all. I have looked in the FAQ's and could not find a section on what headers fit our trucks. Could someone tell me what headers wil fit (including part numbers) without mods to the frame or anything else.

I have a 1968: 350, 4X4, 4speed on the floor.

This would make for a good topic in the FAQ section.

Thanks in advance
Jason

I wanted to run, then I called them up from my cell (Most peeps have free
long distance) and let them do the leg work, I went through SUMMIT and
JEG'S, got 4 different part numbers, and only one of them fits. my $.02

Anybody use the ones "earlyclassic" sells? Item #11-6572HDRS to fit the smallblock.
Kinda pricey, but they come ceramic coated.

jay_shy: Since you have the 4x4, the engine sit back enough that you may want to consider covette manifolds, they have a 2-1/2 center dump. Not a header though.

I am totaly confused on this subject also. It seems every time I look, there are several different part numbers for the same application ( K-20) and I have only looked at the Hedmans at this point because the local exhaust guy said they are the best to clear and tuck above crossmember on passenger sid for ground clearance.

A good confirmed part number ( ceramic or not ) would go a long way on this subject to assure something that will fit and work, especialy when you shell out the bucks for ceramic............well worth it from all standpoints I have been told!

First off make sure you let them know they are going on a MANUAL truck.
I ended up putting some Heddmen headers on my 67 swb 327 2wd 4 speed manual. The headers need to clear the Clutch pivot arm that connects from your engine to the frame. I had to cut, reposition, and weld up my pivot arm just for the headers to fit.

I would suggest long block huggers instead of the shorty block huggers, a set of custom stainless steel headers, or if you want to go balls out, stainless steel Tri-y's that fit. Wrap em up with header wraps and sh!t boi, you be readys to roll. Fah nah nahnah

Dont be afraid to drop the coin on some stainless steel babies, trust me they are worth it, they will never rust up on you.

you can't tell me that no one has put after market headers on our trucks.

Anyway, if you have I am still looking for a set that fits with a part number, and where you got them from.

hopefully someone has made this mod.

looking forward to your input,
Jason

I recall someone saying Hooker SuperComps fit their manual 4wd.It is a hard thing to find a definative answer on.I`m with you.The header companies or at least dealers are vague, and most just want to sell something.Once you get them, you`ll make them work or pay to send back.

I just put a set of ceramic coated Hooker Competitions on my Blazer (Summit part # HOK-2453-1HKR). I did have to alter the Z-bar to fit even though they said that they are compatible with 4-speed. It's an easy alteration.

The previous owner used a slightly different method to get z-bar clearance
