Looked at "Fixer-Upper" last night...

Well, its not pretty. But its pretty tempting. Its a 71 fleetside shortbed (at least I think its a shortbed) with a 350 and automatic transmission. Has rust in all the normal places. The dash and doors have been cut . But it runs, although it sounds rough and needs a little engine TLC. I was hoping some of you guys could help me out with some questions...

- How would you repair that dent in the corner of the cab by the rear window?
- This is a shortbed, right? Stupid me didnt measure it.
- Is the steering colomn original and is just missing the display stuff? Or is this a hack from another car?
- Im used to stepsides... Is the bed supposed to separate that much from the cab?
- What is it worth?

I'd say its worth around 1200.00? Looks like the original column with a smaller steering wheel. The bed looks normal as far as seperation and that dent is a doozy.. bad spot. Looks like it would be a great hauler though!!

1. Slide hammer and a minimal amound of bondo?
2. Absolutely a longbed.
3. Steering column appears stock with the shift indicator stuff missing. Has some kind of late-model sterring wheel on it.
4. Cab/bed alignment looks ok to me, but check the frame for damage if this concerns you.
5. $1,800-2,500: Look under the truck real good for rust, peel back the winshield rubber and look for rust inside/out, look body over closely for bondo.

As mentioned earlier it is a long box, and the dent well, that's a tuffy. I think a uni spotter stud gun and a slide hammer could get it out pretty well thought. I would look real close at it body wise because primer can hide a lot of body work (bondo). Good luck.

Bummer, Im not really looking for a longbed project. If anyone wants to look at it let me know and I will give you the guys number. He is asking $800 but will take less. It also owes $120 in back registration.

Registation back fees can be waived you declare yourself a car collector. Don't remember what section of the vehicle code it's in but can look it up if someone is interested.

If she ain't full of bondo, 800 is a good deal. I put $1800 just cause everything is so expensive in Cali, a little price calibration. Round here in SC that's a 500-1200 dollar truck.
