1972 frame questions

Hello,
I tore down my chevy 72 3/4 4x4 4speed yesterday and found the frame is much worse than originally thought, in fact, not usable at all (too rotten through). I have a 72, 2 wheel drive frame that is good. Question is: will it work to use for my 4x4 running gear? I have never done a frame swap from 2 to 4x4 before. Thanks

I've heard it can be done, but it's a lot of work. May make more sense to find another 4x4 frame.

I had a friend that did the 2-wheel drive to 4-wheel drive conversion. He said that he's an idiot for doing it.

Best bet is to find another 4-wheel drive frame.

There are frame differences. A 4-wheel drive frame has straight frame rails going under the bed (as viewed from the top), and a two-wheel drive frame bows out. I think there are others, but can't remember them.
