man i had to post this story....
... went to bull shoals lake ark. for vacation. ( i'm from il. near st. louis) anyway, on the way down were getting pretty close to are destination way out in the middle of nowhere, mo. and we start to come up on flashing lights. its a state trooper that has a guy pulled over,by the way its one of our trucks looks to be about a 70 gmc 4x4. so we slow down for a look and to my suprise the trooper dosen't have the guy pulled over, he's helping him change a flat tire. and he was working the bumper jack for the guy. man i still can't believe it. that would never happen around here it was so cool. so heres to that trooper and the rest of the missouri highway patrol

got that right. i think they should teach map reading in drivers ed, along with vehicle maint. basics like checking the oil, coolant washer fluid etc. i work as a mechanic and i'm amazed what people don't know. this stuff is supposed to be common knowledge. but when the wife says keep on truck'n i do. if mama ain't happy, ain't nobody happy

I think I saw that same incident, too. Looked like the trooper was probably helping him re-adjust the level of the truck bed to stop the littering (beer cans falling out)..... Sorry, bad humor.
Folks down here stop all the time, to see if maybe you need help. I do it, too, and never give a thought about if I'm risking life & limb by stopping to help. I was pulled over beside the road yesterday talking on the cell-phone, and a young (teenage ??) girl pulled over to ask me if I needed some help. You'll NEVER see that in a city somewhere. |

I've seen that a couple of times.. here in Missouri,,, there have been some fatalities near KC, where someone gets rearended while changing a flat on the road.. noone will slow down anymore.. I've helped a few out.. (mainly the girls) as any man should be able to do his own.. I've shredded a tire once, to get way off the road,, as I knew it wasnt safe to change on the main drag.. my life is worth much more than a tire.. I stopped once to change one for a trooper that was helping out a motorist,, I would rather have him watch traffic, and have me do the work.. you see that off and on in Missouri....

I Love Missouri
There are NO un-cool people there. It is the only place on earth where girls ALWAYS ask guys to dance. I would love to live in the mid-west. Great to here of people helping each other out. That's the way it is here in SW PA. Treat people like you want to be treated. After all, it IS the Golden Rule. Take care, Mike
