Smile Found: 72 Arizona Truck.

While driving along hwy 52 in the very southern half of Minnesota for work, I spotted a 72 2 wheel long bed sitting in a small one horse dealership.(amish country). Anyway. It had $2,600 or best offer on it. After just scanning it, I couldn't believe how clean it was so I crawled underneath.(with dress pants and good shirt, my wife about sh%#t.) It was completely rust free!!!! After digging through the glove box I saw it had all service receipts from an Arizona garage. Most recently in 2003 a new 350 crate motor and rear end. Over $4,500 in tickets. I finally got ahold of the shop owner and negotiated to $2,400 and purchased the truck. The box and front clip are perfect (except for 3 coats of paint brush paint). It looks like it needs a left rocker panel but other than that the cab is perfect. The inside of cab is very clean. It still has the sound pad stuck to the floor and no unneccessary holes drilled throughout. The gauges all work and the windshield wiper squirter squirts. The rims are the original steel with hub cabs and grill is perfect. I'm not sure if I paid too much but finding something this rust free and together seems to be worth it too me. I drives great and smooth down the road. Any thoughts about the price? My wife is being a complete pain in my $ss about the price.(she thinks its way too much but $500 would have been too much for her.) I need some help from you professionals. Thanks.

You mean I missed one?!!!

I just drove up 52 last Friday from Waterloo - and I missed it? My wife is amazed how many old chevys I see as we drive around - looking behind the barn as we pass, etc. Sounds like a great deal to me. Wanna see the pics!

?Women need logic, emotion, etc. Tell her you need somthing to get get garden mulch with. It's perfect for going to the nursery for flowers, trees, sod, etc. Ask her:" what color would look nice?" Works for me!!hehehehe

Just imagine how much it would cost you to fix all the rust that is usually on these trucks. And compare that to a rust free new truck. Looks like a bargin to me!

Pual72,
I bought it in Canton Minn. about 5 miles inside the border and 30 min. north of Decorah Iowa. It seems like it had been sitting there for a while and i can't figure out why it hadn't sold. A young girl from the area born in 1983 (yound enough) moved to Arizona and bought the truck from an old gentleman in the area who worked with his wife. She drove it home once to Minn. and then moved back. It has been up here for about a year, not driven in winter. There is service and overhaul manuals and service records back to 1974. It looks to have been the original color (olive green) then sometime lately a really sh%ty paint job just screwed it up. I have been driving it to work the last two days and it's a runner. I stopped at the body shop where I get my things painted and it looks like it needs fixed in 2 spots. 1 right at the bottom below the door hinge on the driver rocker has a 3 inch round spot ( i think from sitting water) and on the back corner of the cab on the pass. side about a 1/2 round spot. Othe than that were good. Rims and tires gotta go. will have pics today.
