Is your truck a "head turner"?
I was woundering how many of you have a "head turner" truck. You know when people stop what they are doing to watch you drive by or talk to you in a parking lot, thumbs up, etc. i think its a pretty cool feeling if you ask me

Yesterday I took the 71' out for the first time since finishing it and got alot of looks. The Torch Red screams- but so does the new exhaust!. I get alot of compliments on my 70' as well. Your right- it does feel good when somebody appreciates your ride like you do.

I love the response I get when I take my truck out. It gets better when you dump the bags....

that's the cool thing when you first buy an old truck everyone looks at you like you are crazy! "why would you want that old thing"
they just don't have the 'vision' we have! but then we get it all decked out and restored, and everybody loves it! Last edited by newin72; 07-12-2005 at 12:15 AM. |

I get looks, thumbs up, and other various enthusiastic responses most every day. I don't quite know how to repond back so I usually just smile and wave.
Sometimes like today for example, I'm deep in thought just headed wherever I'm going, and suddenly there's someone hangin out their window with huge thumbs up. It's kind of weird. When I have pasengers, sometimes their like, why is everyone looking at us. I have to say, Don't worry, thats normal.

A while back I had a lime green 71 C10 and people always commented and stared at it. Not everyone liked it, but it sure got attention. Now I have a beat up POS that gets noticed by everyone including the local police on occasion

You would be surprised how many teenage girls love my blue camper special that I use as my beater truck. I still have not figured that one out yet. Yet my real nice red 68 4x4 gets more attention then if it were a Vette! If I take this one out, be assured it will take me longer to get back due to all the people asking a million ?'s

Yep!
Most times my three kids are in the back with their shades on. It always makes people smile when they see it, I think that's very cool. Last edited by vtblazer; 07-12-2005 at 06:53 AM. |

Taking my wife for a drive in one of the old trucks is the best way to get her to really appreciate it. One time, I hauled a load of trash to the dump in the '67 and took her along for the ride. The local fire department was there putting out a dumpster fire. When we pulled up the firemen quit fighting the fire and congregated around the truck asking all kinds of questions. Needless to say it got her attention as to the value of the Green Bomb.

My truck is far from a "head turner" wearing flat black primer and old skewl white spokes, but I took it to clemson university for my last year there and it was awesome. Like everyone else has said, the ladies loved it. Guys would come up to me and talk to me about it. I had a bed full of people many times. I got thumbs up and honks often. I even parked it at wally world once, walked over and sat on a bench by the building and watched to see how many people looked at it. There were actually people walking out of their way to walk around it. (I wanted to try this 'cause I know I've done it many times!) I would have to say one annoying thing was that people wanted to race me ALL the time. I only did it a time or two. Beat a couple of ricers and got my ass kicked by a hemi ram truck, (I actually had him till 3rd gear.) Maybe it's the classic lines, maybe it's the 2 1/4" duals, or maybe its the memory of someone's dad or grandpa that had one, but whatever it is, people love these trucks.

I get some heads to turn with my '70 . How many heads would turn if you were only driving a "new" truck? IMO none. Now I am getting heads to turn some when I am in my '86 also.
