very good discussion on 700r4 stuff
very good informative thread discussion regardign the 700r4 transmission and kits and about different fluids available and includes info from a couple of tranny builders thast jump in on this discussion- gets away form just kits towards th elast half when other topics add into it,. is a thread that someone such as mtdave2 and others who have had 700r4 trouble and blame all 700r4 as the problem should read up on, especially towards the last 1/3 of it- i too got in on the discussion at the end of the thread since i have two vehicles with one.:

Ooooh, EXTREMELY informative...
I'm gonna bug the shop I'm gonna get my 700R4 from and see if they'll do a TransGo. Normal part-throttle with hard WOT shifts is what I'd love; the shift kit in my TH400 right now feels like they describe the B&M, with a bang and sometimes a chirp at very light throttle...very irritating in parking lots when it hunts from first to second and back three times in two seconds...

Thanks fast, some of us need some more info on the 700r4. When you don't have a lot of bucks to throw around you need to study!

I must say I haven't read all that thead yet. and I do not know what kinda o shift kit is in th 700R4 in the 85 camaro I race in a hghschool drag class. but it also has a corvette servo and friday at thetrack, the 1-2 shift at around 5200RPM broke the tires loose enough to slide toward he wall til I let off. and the 2-3 trys to bark them. its onehell of a tranny i you build them right.

Transgo is a good kit. The 1-2 shift hits very hard. The other shifts don't hit hard, but are firm. They dont slip at all, just go into gear extremely quick ( I don't exactly know how to put it). Nobody has mentioned anything about different RPM's with non lockup converters. I think I got screwed on Ebay and was sold a non lockup converter. I am running 3,500 RPM at 75 in overdrive and there is power going into the tranny telling it to lockup. I just bought a new lockup converter from 700R4.com but just need to put it in.

which converter you asking about? both are about 12" (normal size). The B&M I am getting rid of I bought for 100 of ebay, but is non lockup if you are interested I need to get rid of it. The other one is a 2,200 RPM stall from 700R4.com and it was 160.

I just picked up 2 700R4's for 400$.. One has a convertor and one doesnt.. I am running a long tail shaft 350 in my truck now with a stock convertor.. How much trouble is it going to be to swap this out? The Tranny with convertor is a lock up, detent controlled...
Do I have to shorten the shaft or change yokes? Will the yoke from the 350 work for the 700r4? I might be able to get the orginal yoke for one of those trannys?
