I hope this helps you guys with questions. I really don't consider this cover to be in the same league as the nice manufactured units, but it looks good enough to get many compliments. I'm a carpenter by trade so this was a natural solution to my dilemma of wanting a bed cover without paying the big bucks.
The material is medex. A water resistant fiberboard that's commonly used for sign making, and similar applications. It'll cost between 20-40 dollars a sheet depending on where you buy it. You'll need two sheets. I attached the two sheets together in the center by routing a 1/4" slot on the edges to accept a tenon made of baltic birch plywood. To strengthen the joint I put three hardwood cleats on the bottom. It's pretty strong. Everything else is pretty obvious in the photos.

Is that a steel frame around the edges? With the medex attached to? What does the medex weigh? Is it a light material? Cheers
