A protecto plate has nothing but the original owners name and info.

There are all kinds of goodies on the Protect-o-Plate.

Fewer on a truck one though.

On a 1972 pickup you should have on the protect-o-plate (from what i can tell):
-VIN
-Rear Axle Number (Right under the VIN)
-Engine Number (to the left of the Rear Axle Number Number)
-Transmission Number (below the Engine Number)
-The build month Code (by the chev logo or "GMC" stamp)
-Carburator source (may be a lone "B", "C, "H", or "R" visable

Hope this helps. I only have info for 1968/1968 cars and trucks protect-o-plate info.

I'll have to dig out my protecto plate. It's still attached to the waranty booklet. I don't recall any of that stuff on there.

I think mine just had the vin and the chevy dealership on it....the owners name was never stamped on it. I'll pull mine out tomorrow when I'm back upstate to double check.
