stuff

The show is Thursday the 4th through Sunday the 7th. Expecting over 10,000 street rods and many of the owners also have muscle cars, classic trucks etc.
The 3speed overdrive was an option in the 50's and early 60's. It looks like a normal car/truck 3 speed trans but it also has some electronic/mechanical thingies that allow you to pull a lever on the dash that put's it into overdrive. They were availalbe on most vehicles--chev, ford, chrysler, jeep, etc. In overdrive, you were getting a lower rpm and when you took your foot off of the gas, you were in free wheeling. They are pretty strong and didn't have many problems given reasonable maintenance. They were also available on 67-72 trucks but were not very popular given the advances in automatic transmissions (turbo 350 was bulletproof verses powerglide 2spd). The price of gas having been $.20 a gal--was not a motivator to most people to buy the overdrive units back then.

I think I'll be in NJ soon, is that local enough?

Too bad, I'd like that single walled top.

I'll bring the blazer quarter with me.
