Front shock with drop?
I have 2.5" Western Spindles for the front of my 81 and I'm in the process of putting it back together. I'm considering installing a set of 2" drop coils also. If I install the drop springs can I still use stock shocks or will I need drop shocks?

You can still use a stock shock but it's recommended to get a lowered shock anyway.
If you get the drop coils, you will have to get drop shocks.

I lowered my truck with Bell Tech 3" spindles, along with 1" drop springs. To keep the front riding reasonable I use a stock length Rancho 9000 shock that has adjustable dampening on the shock stroke. It has worked fine for years and I can keep the front under control at high speeds. The shocks that are sold as drop shocks seem to stroke a little fast for my taste and the front rode springy. I dropped my truck in 1995 and it is still runnig strong. The highways in Arkansas on the one of the Hot Rod Power Tours was the worst thing I had to deal with, I-40 really is the pits, but I can run with the best of them.
