I bought one from my local GM dealer several years ago, local purchase, same price as all the rest, no shipping, can go and complain locally if anything goes wrong. They also did the install and did a great job.
I REALLY wish I had put in some more $ for more horsepower. Mine's not a dog or anything, but it could use some more omph when accelerating. If you're considering it, spend the $ now.

Do a search on Google for "Chevy crate engine", "350 crate engine" and you will find some more places to check out.

I bought mine last fall from the local GM perfomance dealer in town. Got the plain jane 350 replacement engine for $1395. That includes freight charges.
Sure, you can find dealers listing the engine for about $100.00 cheaper, but then when they throw the freight in on top of it, you might as well buy it locally and avoid any potential hassles. If you have it shipped to you, you are buying it sight unseen. Who knows how much bashing it took in shipping. As the previous poster said, if you can go and complain locally if anything goes wrong. I'ld buy locally. -Roger

You can proably go to the auto parts store and get a reman longblock ,
for cheaper, but the GM engine would proably last longer. The reman ones usually go for $800-1000, if i remember correctly...

I would buy from a local Chevy dealer as well. They will be close to internet prices. Then like they said, if there is problems, they can fix it at that local dealer instead of dealing with someone halfway across the country.
You live in Califonia. I bet there are many dealers around you that sell the crate motor you are lookig for. Darren

I ran into my second truck when I was looking for a motor. Think about it, you could spend 1500 on a motor or spend 1500 on another truck with a good motor. Use the motor and part out the truck. or sell the truck without the motor. Food for thought.

I bought my GW350 from Scoggin-Dickey in January before the price went up. They were running an internet special where the freight was only $35. That was less than the sales tax would have been if I had bought local and it was delivered the next day. They are very good people to deal with.

Call your local chevy dealer prices should be about the same as mail order plus when you have a problem just drop it at the dealer and they do all the work almost like having a new truck.

Sounds like I got screwed. I had found one cheeper in Louisville,Ky The best I remember it was about $1,400.00.
I talked to a buddie that works for GM. He said that they would do the warranty work but, they would take care of there own first, and do everything they could to get me to go back to where I purchased the motor and or the installer. It made sense to me to spend the extra money and buy from him.$1716.00. It came in with both valve covers dented. I took them to him he handed me two brand new ones and new valve cover gaskets. They didn't have the GM stickers on them. He then ordered me the replacement Valve covers and new gaskets again. Now if I had been dealing with the cheeper motor in Louisville (110 miles away ) I would already spent what I saved. BUY FROM A LOCAL GM DEALER . Just my openion. Three year 50,000 mile warranty. I drove it all I could the first year and gave up.Been installed for 18 month has 8000 miles on the motor. I know this is long but let me tell you something that happened when I installed the new motor. New water pump came with it. The heater core blew.(air cab they are a Bi*ch). Put a new core in. Then the radiator blew. New radiator. Then the heater core hose blew. All new hoses Now, No problems. Point is remember these are old trucks with old parts. You will be happy with the crate 225HP 4-bolt main (no exchange) Herbie
