Tranny help please :)
Hey guys!
I've got my truck ready to go less getting fluids in, including the tranny. It leaked all of it's fluid out of the front seal, which I just replaced, along with pulling the pan, and replacing the filter. How does a guy safely start up the engine after doing that to the tranny? I made sure that the torque converter was full, and I'll be filling the tranny to the full mark on the dipstick with it cold, will that be enough fluid, or is something gonna get burnt out if I start the truck this way? Any suggestions?

Put in 7 Quarts and start the engine and hold the brakes, and put in in reverse for about 30 seconds, then put it in drive, for 30 seconds, do this for about 3 or 4 minutes and you will be good. Then let the engine warm up and then check your fuild.

Cool, no worries about holding the brakes here -- No driveshafts, lol
What if I cannot let the engine get too hot? I don't have any fans on it yet, and just wanna run it for some motivation PS -- double flares SUCK, lol I've gotta go rent the tool again to redo one...

Unbolt the torque convertor and push back (away from the flexplate) back. Start the engine and get motivation. Do do have oil in the engine and coolent right?

Well, it doesn't really matter anyways. The TPI doesn't work, and I blew something majorly after I tried to fix it.

Like it sounded like someone sparked a welder on my truck, then blew the main fusible link, along with a big puff of smoke sorta blew something majorly

Did the fluid leak out or was it because you replaced the seal. If it leaked from sitting it's usually the seal around the pump. If it leaks while running it's usually the torque converter seal...

It was leaking, I replaced the seal today. No more leaks, but I've got some major electrical work to do.

Final prognosis is a bad ECM New one is coming up tommorow evening, should be able to swap them out in about 10 minutes or so, then give things a quick bench test before I put it all back together. If my injectors pulse, then I'll be up and running
