Or take a torch, plasma cutter, sawzall or any other implement of distrucktion and cut your chassis and box to fit. Preferably not cutting and welding your frame in a straight vertical line! |

Just go to the laundry-mat and put it in the dryer for 45 minutes on HIGH. It'll draw up a good 12-15 inches!!!! (sorry, I couldn't resist)

![]() ![]() I converted a 72 GMC longbed to a 72 Chevy shortbed...... Hunted down a shortbed rolling chassis for $150 (altering a long bed frame isn't worth the hassle IMO), bought a nice short box, swapped in a one-piece drive shaft, installed short bed brake lines and e-brake cable. One thing to note: In Texas, the title follows the frame VIN not the VIN tag on the cab. My title doesn't match the frame but I don't see it being a big deal since they always look at the VIN tag when inspections come along.

For the frame, check this article As for the bed, I haven't completed it yet, buy I'm converting some longbed sides to short. Just take 12" out in front of the wheels and 8" behind. Here's a link The bed was a POS to begin with so I figured I'd try it
