HydroBoost

Has anybody done a conversion using an AstroVan hydroboost system? Local yard has just got one in and I was wondering..... Might be good for a 1/2T SWB.

Anybody have any experience with this or other Hydroboost setups.

Thanks for any advice or other sorces - Bob

I am using a hydroboost off a 1979 diesel Cadillac, works great. I also used the 4 wheel disc brake front and rear suspension on my 1956 Chevy truck.

This is interesting. How did you plumb all of your lines to your power steering and what about mounitng to firewall and shaft lengths and such extd56 when you get a chance. Pictures would be great too.

I used a hydroboost off a 89 1 ton for my 69 1 ton. I had to modify my brake pedal & drill some holes in the bracket so it would bolt to my firewall. I just put a T in the return line back to the pump. Its not real pretty to look at, but works really well.

I also used a hydroboost set up off of an 89 1 ton, old body style. I cut the rod down that attaches to the brake pedal, threaded it, and added a rod end. Then found the right place on the brake pedal and drilled a hole. I added a reinforcement on the firewall as it is pretty heavy. I put in the 89's 454 so I am using the 89's power steering pump. I had to take one hose to a shop to have them swap one end from the 69's power steering hose onto the newer hose. Works awesome.
