Question is there any differences between edelbrock intake and professional products intake?

I am looking at the edelbrock 2116 and professional products 52007 intake for my engine. Is the pro products a copy of the edelbrock?

Some suppliers have the pro products manifold significantly cheaper, while other suppliers have them priced within a few dollars of each other.

What are the differences if any?

I've seen the offshore stuff with poor fit and so lean on aluminum that it was tough to get them to seal up to the heads. You get what you pay for.

Edelbrock has been making intakes since the 1940's right here in the USA.

An intake may seen to be a trouble free part, but some cheaper ones have been known to have porosity, causing vacuum leaks that are a nightmare to diagnose. Buy the good stuff, you won't be sorry.

I did not know the country of origin for professional products, I always buy american if possible.

I was looking more on performance differences than product quality.

No, no, you misunderstood I know the reputation for edelbrock quality, that has been established long long ago.

My question is about performance differences and finding out definitely about the country of origin for the pro. products.

As an American steelworker, I would like to add: built into the cost of the Edelbrock product is: decades of research & developement, wages to American workers, taxes to America, money for EPA & OSHA & FICA & police & firefighters. Money from the sale of that intake pays for an enormous ammount of things we take for granted, such as: sponsorship of rod runs, car shows, advertising money, support of local and national charities, landfill costs, electricity power production, and thousands of other things. That manifold is very well designed, extemely well produced, & it is as good as humanly possible. The other manifold is an unknown.
In over 40 years of involvement in hot rodding, I have NEVER been dissapointed with an Edelbrock product.

But can we have a discussion about the merits of both products? An Edlebrock owner myself, I would still like to know if anyone has used the competing products and can tell us anything about them??

Since we're talking about manifolds does anyone know anything about AFRs intakes. Are they also imported copies of Edelbrock? Myself I run and Edelbrock RPM but have wondered about the AFR Street Pro Flow RPM intake.But I don't know of anyone whos ever used one.

This is what AFR claims.

• Up to 17 horsepower more than competing manifolds!

• Higher port volume and high velocity design make the difference.

• Permanent mold casting for more accurate ports, strength, and density.

• Cast-in bosses for nitrous nozzles!

• Extra water outlets in rear!

the professional products is more certainly chinas finest. buy the edelbrock and you wont have to worry about why you just cant seem to get that intake to seal. i have seen numerous pro products intakes that were basically warped right out of the box and wont seal regardless what you do. buy the edelbrock and keep someone here in this country in a job

finally the type of reply I have been looking for the entire time, someone with firsthand experience of pro products.

guys, please don't change the thread into a political and economic issue, because buying one manifold is not going to cause lost jobs. Bill Clinton, screwed small town America when he signed NAFTA. I wonder how many Mexicans are working for Edelbrock?

Heck, weiand is pretty much as old of a company as Edelbrock.

not much experience with weiand intakes. i know they arent junk but most guys seem to run edelbrocks untill they get into race motors then comes the dart brodix and dominator intakes. never heard any bad about weiand but havent really had any experience with them. as tx said the company is as old as dirt so i would hesistate to buy from em

I had a Weiand stealth on a sbc and it worked like a champ. Good on low and high rpm. I currently have the pro products on my 454 and I can say that I've seen better fitting stuff. I gasket matched it because the ports were kinda funky shaped. I suspect the name brand stuff would have been a lot closer to the right port shape. I havent had any sealing problems, though.
I would probably buy name brand if I were to do it again.

I have run weiand, edelbrock, gm performance, and pro products! I agree that the pro products is just a (chinese)copy of an edelbrock but not near the quality. They need lots of gasket matching and cleanup to be anywhere near edelbrock quality!

I am running a merlin intake this time on my 468 with a Fogger!

Nitrous Times:
5.785 1/8 @ 118.65 with a 1.336 60ft
9.168 1/4 @ 142.58 with a 250 shot dead out of the hole!
