wondering what part this is
Hey, I'm getting closer to finishing the engine restoration, but I have a few unidentified parts left.
Anyone know what this is?

Really!?
Okay, thanks.
That makes sense, but which part of the manifold gets it?

It is upside down in your pic. It bolts to the exhaust manifold and goes under the spark plugs. Sorry I dont have a pic of it in place.

dude - thanks!
Thats good info. Okay, so I turn it upside doen, then what? do I only need 1 of them, or do I need a set?
Also, which side of the exh. manifold does it go on? Also, front, or rear? Thanks in advance, -Chuck

There should be four of them. Mine are slightly different, the mountings are in the center and they bolt to the block, so someone else will have to give you pics.

Your user name seems to indicate you have a Big Block. I have not seen that type of heat shield on big blocks. I am familiar with 8 individual tubes(funnels) with a tab that an exhaust bolt holds in place. The piece pictured looks like a small block part which is fine if you have a SB.
