93 S-10 Blazer help please!
I hope this is the right board to ask ?'s on a s-10 Blazer. Anyone out there ever pull the 4.3 from a 93 S-10? The book I have says to get at the top two
Bellhousing bolts that you have to take apart the 4 body mounts in the front and lift the body off from the chassie and block up. Wow, If this is true I think I am staying away from these 4x4's. Anyone know a better way? Thanks for any help.

I think you can pull the carpet back, (underneath the dash), and use a hole saw to cut a hole in the fire wall. ( then plug it when you are done.)This should allow access to the trans bolts. The other way is to bend the "big lip" or "pinch weld" that runs horizontal across the firewall. This is what gets in the way of your wrench. Either way it's gonna be a b*tch!

I can't help much. I did an engine swap in a baby blazer years ago,but it had a 3" body lift...

I remove the trans crossmember ,this will let the trans hang down enough to get a long extension to the top 2 bolts...Yes they are tight to get to,Esp. a vortec....Do you need a motor? I have 3 good 4.3 vortec's here, and tons of blazer stuff..I have a complete 93 4dr for parts or just needs a paintjob...Its lexus pearl white...and has a new front clip...Let me know if you need anything... Thanks,Erick

Thanks all. The Blazer has a mint interior and the engine has a spun rod bearing. I plan
on keeping the Blazer so I will not be chopping it up in any way. Thanks for the offer Erick, I have the new crank kit already. I had just replaced the fuel injection, cost 500 just for that part alone so I will not need another 4.3 Vortec motor. That was a 4wd Blazer Erick that you pulled the tranny crossmember out to take out the top two bolts?

Yes just put you a jack under the trans pan, remove the crossmember, then let the jack down, you can get to them with about a 3 foot ext. and while you are there, get that one 9/16 bolt off the rear of the drivers side head that holds the fuel lines on...You will cuss gm if you dont get that one out....
They should have made more room in these things....Thats why i like the older trucks And you said you replaced the spyder assy. ,When they go bad all the gas goes in the oil pan, then it starves the bearings, when you get it out,you man want to check the cam bearings too...common problem..If you need anything, just holler at me...anything at all...alt,starter,a/c ...ect i have boxes of that stuff...i parted 8 out this year alone...and i have a 92 jimmy 4dr 2wd... You dont see many of those.. Last edited by bisquik65; 10-09-2005 at 09:43 AM. |
