i know this has been asked before but i have an 1971 c-10 i believe it has the 350 in it. right now it has maunal brakes i was wonder how are it would be to install and what i need i can get an booster master cylider and proportioning vavle from advance auto for like 200 buxs. what is involed in installing it? i see on the firewall the 2 upper blots for an booster and the master clyider attached to the bottom 2

just need a brake booster - I got mine from a board member for around $20. It installs between your master cyl and the firewall. No new proportioning valve required. Just make sure you get the pedal linkage with the booster and the rod that goes in between the booster and MC. I don't think these are included from Autozone.

Check the FAQs - I'm sure there's info. Overall, this is one of the easiest things you can do for your truck.

you will need the mounting bracket and hardware to the firewall and a different rod that attaches to the brake pedal. hopefully someone can post a pic. for you.

To make matters even more confusing:

Can't say how it works, but should be interesting. I would suggest getting it from someone else though, FatRodder took too long and had seriously crappy customer service.

Supposedly, the dual diaphragm small booster puts out more force.

I recently added a dual diaphragm booster off an 86 IROC Camaro but had to lengthen the rod by using another truck rod and adding it to the Camaro rod. I slipped a piece of tubing over the rod ends before welding to help strengthen the rod. I also had to re-drill the hole for the bolt on the pedal to keep the angle of the rod right. It works great, my wife drove it down our driveway and said she like to have slung herself througth the windshield

. I told her it's touchy! below is a pic of my set up.

Here are pictures I took last time I swapped a truck to power brakes. You can see that there are two brackets and a linkage piece in the middle of them. You'll need all of that to do the install.

By the way, around here, a rebuilt power booster runs about 75 bucks at the parts store. With the booster, brackets pictured above, and a length of 3/8 hose and fitting for the intake, it will take under an hour to do the duty.

Yeah for the money and time spent it's the best upgrade you can do to your truck imo.
