454 frame stands & motor mounts
Since Im really not an afficianado for these years, for a Mark IV 454 version engine, are the frame stands different on these chassis's?
I assume that the motor mount to the frame stand is 454 only!? I have smog, although I just located a partial smog equipment system, I might consider going to a 454 with all the smog... Thoughts on the frame stands/motor mounts?

454 and smallblock frame stands are the same. You use a different set of holes on them depending on which rubber mounts you are using.

All the V8's can use the same stands and holes in the stand as well as the same mounts...the six cyliner engines use the different mounting holes in the stand. The holes on the stands are labeled "6" and "8". I went from a 350 to a 454 and did exactly this. Other members on here have done this as well. On a side note, according to GM the stands for a 454 and 350 have different part numbers...but I have no clue to what the actual difference is...and I didn't want to spend the $120 for the set to find out.

Could the 454 GM stands have support gussets on the backsides to support the heavier demand?
My 69 Camaro GM 396 frame stands as well as SS350 frame stands in that year added an under support gusset to strengthen the stand overall..

My '79 GM Service Manual has pictures of the mounts together with the frame stands and which holes ar used for each. I suppose the stands could be different part numbers... they are similar enough than GM used the same drawing for both mount combinations.
