yowszer! A local guy here in CA wanted $400 to rechrome/repair a bumper. Would it really be that much more to do a grill?

I paid $795 cdn to have my grill, front bumper and headlight surrounds chromed on my 59 GMC.

I know it is not the same truck, but to give you an idea.

Jim Carter's online catalog shows you can purchase a new 72 GMC chrome grill for $450.

My experience with chrome companies is that very few will give you an definite estimate and it really matters how straight the item is before they start on it.

heavy steel stuff is ALOT easier for them to plate/therefore alot cheaper/// look at all the nooks and crannies and angles in a 72 grill it all has to be ground and buffed numerous times by hand the thinner the material the more care must be taken therefore much more manhours more $$$$$$$$$$$$ the more labor intesive you get $$$$$$$$$$$$ and every 6months or year the more EPA regs come into effect ===more $$$$

I paid 500 bucks to have my grill and upper grill bar rechromed, and cdowns is right about the ever increasing cost of plating. The repro grills look great however I can't comment on the quality or fit.

I paid $1,050 to have the grille, top grille bar, headlight bezels, and fender eybrows done about 5-6 years ago. Now I could buy it all repop, for about $750. Kinda wished I'd have waited. Ah well, it's only money.

No. You can have plastic plated to look like chrome though....

GMC= Got More Class! 1970 GMC LWB, Fleetside, 350/4spd, Flowmaster "40's", 2002 GMC 16" Rallies, cowl hood,and added a bunch of options that weren't there when I started.
