Going to repaint the Green Machine -Should I leave it GREEN ??
Got started tearing apart the 1970 for body work and paint - we will be painting the whole truck, firewall and inside the cab. Now would be a good time to change color if wanted. I kind of like the green, but it doesn't really "pop" out at you if you know what I mean. Of course fresh green paint would look much better than now. I already have a red/orange 68, but was thinking about going all black. The truck has the lower chrome black mouldings. What would you do for best appearance on the truck ? I know color is usually personal opinion, but what would you do and if you change it would you use a factory 67-72 color or use any color that looked good ? O r maybe a lighter green than it is now ?? Thanks for any any all input.
Wanted to put a pic in here but it won't take - will try later

I personally like those '70's green colors, but black would look great with good body work.

Re: Going to repaint the Green Machine -Should I leave it GREEN ??
Personally when I bought my 70 that's in my avatar I thought the green wasn't attractive but it fit the lifestyle the truck would be used for (my camping and mountain rig.) It has definitely grown on me. Stay green, I've gotten lots of compliments and really like how my truck looks.

I work for the military full time. The last thing that I am driving is a green truck when I get home. LOL

Re: Going to repaint the Green Machine -Should I leave it GREEN ??
If the truck is not going to have a modified look, pretty much stock, then I`d stay with a factory correct color,if I changed it.I have yet to change a color of a truck, but have had lots of ideas. One thing I`ve learned, don`t commit to a color until it`s ready for paint.Spend lots of time pondering and looking until then. What ever you decide now you`ll probably change 1/2 dozen times before it`s ready.

Re: Going to repaint the Green Machine -Should I leave it GREEN ??
Well, still can't post a pic but the factory color is 506 Dark Olive, paint book say dark green poly, it is one of the metallic colors, and looks pretty decent if you shine up a small spot and the sun kind of sparkles off of it. I dont have a color I'm dying to paint it, and I don't hate the green, don't see many of those around painted green. Truck will be mostly stock appering with just a nice set of wheels.

Re: Going to repaint the Green Machine -Should I leave it GREEN ??
That Dark Olive will look better yet in a urethane base coat/clear coat and you can add some pearl.A very close newer GM color is Fairway Green. It is a little lighter and brighter shade with pearl. It was fopund on very few vettes and S-series trucks and Blazers around 95/96.There is a member with a 1st gen.Blazer that color.I had it on the`95 K/3500 I wrecked last year.If I can e-mail a scan to someone to post I will.

Re: Going to repaint the Green Machine -Should I leave it GREEN ??
I really appreciate the suggestions guys/gals - keep em coming !!! We will be doing BC/CC. Add some pearl ? Sounds neat - Would that go in the clear ??
Yeah - if I could find a color close to original, but more modern-ish that would be cool too.
