Re: mph when kicks into OD?
everything I've briven is more like 45, but that is way to low IMO. As long as your cruising range is not at a point where it kicks in and out od OD, you'll be OK.
Also need to make 100% sure your line pressure is right, if it isn't...you'll have a very expensive paper weight in 20,000 miles. |

Re: mph when kicks into OD?
The 83 700R4 in my 67 kicks in at 40-45 and the one in my Z71(4L80...same difference) kicks in at about 45. If I am continuing to accelrate past about 55 mph I leave it alone, But if I'm only going 50 and under I put the shifter in D. I burned up the 700R4 in my 67 due to bad TV adjustment (I did what you did and adjusted it so it shifted later). Better of to set the cable correctly and shift it into D when necessary. I plan on going with a bowtie overdrives TV cable kit which should take the guess work out of the adjustment.

Good idea redneck. For a nonstock aplication, that is the ONLY way to go.

Re: mph when kicks into OD?
Go to this website:
http://bowtieoverdrives.com You basically tell them what tranny you have and what carb you are running. I have NOT done this install myself yet, but several others along with Classic Trucks magazine (who did a tech install on one a while back) have given this kit praise. I've heard they have a good tech staff that you can call if you get stuck, but the kit comes with instructions. Basically you install their plate under your carb, hook a few odds n ends up and it's done. I think it costs around 70 bucks. Their website has some really good info on it. Spend some time there and read their FAQ's EDIT: Here's the install article Classic Trucks did:http://www.classictrucksweb.com/tech...ble/index.html
