11 and 11 1/2 inch rear brake shoes..question
I went to buy some rear brakes today for my 74 gmc 1/2 ton and the guy at pepboys says "what size brakes" I was like "huh??" it seems that there are two sizes of brakes 11 inch and (I think) 11 1/2. Now I never heard of this, I told him too give me the 11 inch if they dont fit ill take them back and get the other size. Anybody know what size is the correct size?

measure the inside diameter of your drums and that would be the size you need to tell them you need. If the 11" shoes did not fit (too small) then you have a heavy duty brake setup that are 11 5/32".

it may be---because I do not know the diff between JD1, JD2, JD3 ---- if you have 1" thick front rotors -- you may need the 11x2 rear shoes. 1.25" thick rotors - 11 1/2" (5/32) rear shoes --they may be wider also. verify
