Disc Brake Question...
I am currently rebuilding a 1969 Chevy stepside. My truck is 2 wheel drive and I want to convert the front brakes from drums to discs. Today I found a 69 K5 blazer in a junkyard with the whole disc assembly. My question was will it fit even though the K5 is 4x4 and mine 2x4? Is there any other ways I can make it work? I'm from New York and its very hard to come across 67-72 chevy trucks in good shape. If anyone could help itd be greatly appreciated. Later...

Re: Disc Brake Question...
The 4 wheel drive brakes will not work on your two wheel drive.
Fear not though, the easiest way to convert your truck to discs is to use any 1/2 ton 2wd truck from 71-87. The whole front corssmember and suspension unbolts and will easily bolt into your truck. There have been countless guys on here do this with great success. Plus, the newer trucks are much easier to find for you fellows in the rust belt.

that's what i did with my 69, took the whole front crossmember from a 72 c-10. only problem i had was 2 bolts on each side of the frame rails being off just a little so all i had to was grind the holes the out a little and everything was fine. real easy to do. make sure you get the master cylinder, proporting valve, and front brake hard lines from the parts truck. chris.

Re: Disc Brake Question...
You could also use conversion spindles from just about any of the vendors here, then use the rotors, calipers, etc., from donor trucks like TxFirefighter mentioned. That is what I did, got the spindles from GMC Paul's.

Re: Disc Brake Question...
1969 and 1970 K5 Blazers had Drum front brakes.
Why don't you just swap over the entire 4x4 front end and convert that puppy. A nice 4x4 stepside would be COOL!

Re: Disc Brake Question...
itd be nice to do a conversion but my plans are to drop it and 4x4 will be just more of a pain in the ass for that. plus im probably not gonna use 4x4 because i dont want to go offroading and its not gonna be driven in the winter. later...

Re: Disc Brake Question...
I put 71 c10 discs on my 68 and it works like a charm.

Re: Disc Brake Question...
i swapped 71 front spndles, calipers with new rotors and pads. removed rear axles adn had them welded and redrilled for 5 lug wheels so all four are the same bolt pattern. made a big difference in stopping power. mine is a 69 panel but pickup is the same basic suspension.now i'm going to try swapping rear drums to disc.
