Its actually a very simple thing to hook up
![]() The zbar has an end with a bolt in it that goes to the frame side, and the other side slides onto a ball on either the tranny housing, or the engine (dunno when they switched) Either way, you should have a bar that sticks up on the driver's side of the truck for the clutch pedal rod to hook up to, and a bar that sticks down on the other side that the rest of it hooks up to. I'll need to try and hunt down some pics of how the bottom part hooks up, as it has been almost a year since I last looked at a z-bar linkage...

Rotate the clutch lever and shaft assembly until the clutch pedal is firmly against the rubber bumper on the brake pedal bracket. Push the outer end of the clutch fork rearward until the throwout bearing lightly contacts the pressure plate levers. Loosen the locknut and adjust the rod length so that the swivel slips freely into the gauge hole. Increase the rod length until all lash is removed. Remove the swivel from the gauge hole. Insert the swivel in the lower hole in the lever. Install two washers and the cotter pin. Tighten the locknut, being careful not to change the rod length. Reinstall the spring and check the pedal free travel. It should be 1 3⁄8 -1 5⁄8 inch. Hope this helps. - Dave

Assuming an installed engine, the casting number is found at the back driver's side of the engine, just infront of where the tranny bolts to it.
I think there is another way to identify it as well, as that can be kinda tough to see, but I'm not sure how. Check www.mortec.com -- They should have instruction on where to find the casting numbers, and what they mean there
