ok i have a choice
Ok I put that 1000.00 truck I had all that work done to in the paper over the weekend. Asking price 3500.00 which is what I have in it total. I had 2 guys come over today he brought his friend which is a auto guy. They really liked it and said it drove really good "which it should with all the money in it" anyways he offered me 3000.00 for it and I said nope. Wont take anything less then 3500.00. Im thinking of calling the guy and saying id take the 3. Should I do this? Cut my 500.00 loss for a lesson learned? or hold tight to 3500.00? I dont really care if i sell it or not but I could find something else.

Re: ok i have a choice
I'd go for the 3000 and cut the 500 as a loss myself, there is a chance you might not get 3500 for it at all

Re: ok i have a choice
Why not keep it? does it need much more work, or do you just have a bad taste in your mouth cause you feel like you got burned? If you just want another truck sell it for 3. A $500 loss is better than a $2500 loss.

Re: ok i have a choice
I think im willing to sell it for 3 just because everytime I look at it or drive it I just get mad at myself for being so stupid. As far as much more work. Theres a few things that it needs that would nickel and dime me. Like it needs new tires from sitting so long theres a couple of low spots on them.

Re: ok i have a choice
If owning the truck causes anguish, I would try a short while to get $3500, if that didn't work call the guy back and take your lumps. In a few months some other event will come along that takes money out of your pocket and the $500 beating won't be as painful.

Re: ok i have a choice
Sell it ,but tell the buyer about the problems that are nickel and dimers , or they might just nickel and dime you anyway . Frank

Re: ok i have a choice
Tell him you will meet him in the middle. I'll bet if he offered 3000. he will bite at 3250. That's only a 250 loss, and you can move on. If you have a buyer in the mood, it's time to sell. You "may" get another buyer at 3500 or you may not. I say counter his offer....

Re: ok i have a choice
I did get a call tonight from him and he offered me 3300 for it. I said when you want to come get it. He has one more truck to look at and will call tomorrow night and let me know one way or another. I drove the truck to work today and now its starting to grow on me and reminds me why I love these damn things. LOL

Re: ok i have a choice
See I told you he would have gone 3250. If I were you I would call him back and tell him you will take 3250 if he will come get it and skip looking at the other truck. Then I would take the 3250 and go buy a solid truck that you will be happy with.
I don't mean any disrepect, but I saw the pics you posted. For the 1000 that you got it for it was a good deal. For 3000+ it's not such a good deal. If you have a buyer you should probably sell it and move on to a nicer truck.... |

Re: ok i have a choice
What else does it need? What will you buy if you sell it? Right now you have $3500 into a truck that you know all about. If you sell it for a 200 loss plus add into that your time and title transfer costs you will be loosing more. If it's mental reasons I'm sure you will get over that once it has become 'your' truck. Why sell it if you will buy another chevy that will have a worn out front end and other problems.
