Exhaust exit in front of rear wheel

I've about decided with the gas tank, gas lines, brake lines, and panhard bar in the rear that I am not running my exhaust to the rear of the truck. I have 6" drop springs in the back and was wondering if anyone has the side exiting exhaust with the drop springs. If so any clearance issues between the trailing arms and the bottom of frame. They look close to me. Could C notch, but rather not. I am using 2.5" pipe. Any pics or advice would be appreciated. dkf

Depends on how you route it. The popular method is to dump them right in front of the rear axle. The problem with routing it in front of the rear tire is you have to run the exhaust under the frame rail, or cut a hole in it and route it through the frame. If you go under, you run the risk of dragging it on stuff. I'd just dump it under the bed if you're at 6" drop in the rear.

I agree with 67fleet. mine dumps just behind cab it is loud but I just turn up the radio if I dont want to hear it.

at stock height, mine dump out in front of the wheels. i have the pipes outside the frame, and hanging down below the body with long tube headers

But at a 6" drop there's a big difference. If yours run outside the frame rails, the the exhaust pipes have to either pass under them or go through them at some point. He'll definitely have clearance issues if he takes the same route you did. Also, long-tube headers will present their own problem with dragging them on things. If ya wanna be low, there's just going to be some sacrifices that have to be made.......or some creative fabrication.

I'm running sanderson headers, so I am definitely inside the frame rails. Also I am going thru the crossmember that the trailing arms pivot on. I have no sheetmetal on this frame, just running gear. I don't have a good bed to put on the frame and try it for fit. Is there a chance that there is clearance going over the frame and exiting out the side? If not I guess I'll wind up c notching the frame or just go straight thru it. Thanks for the quick responses. Danny

mine come out in front of the cab corners , all i have is headers, classpacks, a little pipe and chrome 5 inch tips. it sounds baad!

If you're going thru the crossmember then right after the cab (just past the first bed mount) you can route it up and over the frame rail and then drop it back down and out the side. It's a pretty tight bend though.

I got over the rear with a 6" drop but I am running 2.25" pipe. It was tight on the drivers side but it went in there.
