Slip on cab supports???

What exactly is the advantage of the slip on versus the regular? Has anybody tried these?. Mine are rotted and and I want the easiest ones I can get.

Run don't walk away from that idea. All the slip-ons do is cover up the problem. The ONLY way to fix these is to buy the non-slip on ones, cut the old ones out, and weld in the new.

I agree 100%. The only way to stop rust is to remove it. Take the extra time and do it right.

I thought they still had to be "welded" on to the cab.

Very possible, but If you only cover the existing rust you will be repairing it again down the road.

i cut the rusted part out of my truck and left it. now there's a huge drain for anything that gets in the cab supports.



i don't suggest you do the same but i'm poor and don't care.

the slip on ones are ok as long as the rust damage is not structual hazard. The rear slip on ones arent even close to the correct shape the front are pretty close. But like others have said, it is only a cosmetic cover.

Ok . Can you still buy GM?? I have never seen them on ebay. Any other places. Are they expensive and do you have to remove/lift the cab

You can buy them from any one of the wonderful venders here. I use Mothertruckers. They are reasonably priced. Yes you do have to remove the cab to do it right, lifting the cab up is not enough unless your just going to "slip" it in place to cover up a rust hole. But I still dont recomend the slip on ones.

I bought a full set of non-slip on ones from GMC Paul's. Thus far I've only installed the RF one. I for sure did NOT remove the cab from the frame. I did the work when I had the RHS rocker off. I believe I only removed the cab mount bolt that goes through that support. I loosened the other three and gently lifted the cab up a tad with a block of wood on a floor jack.
