Headlights Assy. Question

hey all,
well as i inch closer to firing up the ol' gal i have another question.
i am assembling the front of the radi. core & am at the spot of attaching the headlights to the steel rings which i know attach to the core support. my question is how do the headlights & "chrome" rings around the headlight attach to the core support??? i know there are (i think) 3 screws that scew & hold the pieces to the bucket on the core support, if so can you tell me what type of screws (size & so on) to use??? if i am not on the right track could someone tell me how then the headlights & rings attach to the core support??

this is for a stock front end of a 1972 chevy 2wd 1/2 ton pickup..

you guys are rockin'

thanks ahead of time for your efforts!!!

Re: Headlights Assy. Question

You need two headlight adjusting screws (#10), matching plastic nutplates (#2) and a retaining spring (#4). You can buy them from the vendors, but be careful because the screw heads aren't hardened that good and can strip out. If you still have the originals, use them.

Re: Headlights Assy. Question

so do the same screws that i used to attach the headlight bucket to the radi. core support attach the light & ring to the bucket??? i thought that the adjust. screws with the plastic nuts (you can buy at the local parts place) were used to just attach the headlight bucket to the radi. core support..

thanks again for the help please keep it going thanks!!!

Re: Headlights Assy. Question

There are 3 small machine screws that attach the headlight ring to the bucket. I think they are a 6-40 thread, but not for sure. The bucket assembly is held in place on the core support with the adjusting screws and spring.

Last time I tried the parts stores no longer had the correct screws for these trucks. Had to go thru a vendor.
