I need to replace the electric fan on my truck as the crudely fabbed one on there now has become a real headache and seems to be on its last legs. I browsed Summit for one but realized that I wasn't quite sure what I needed so any suggestions on what to get and examples of what y'all are running would be great.

I don't think I need anything real heavy duty as the one on there now can't really be doing much in the way of cooling and all I have is a small block without a/c. Any advice would be helpful.

This is what i did and it works good. Mounts very clean. I then wired up a relay with a temp switch in the manifold. No complaints so far and the price is pretty good as well. Plus there are only about a million of those altimas on the road much less in the yard.

I have just one 17", I ran it on my '92 camaro for a while, it worked good. About 69.00 at o'riely's

I run the flex-a-lite 295 on both of my trucks. They aren't cheap but really move the air.

I hear and bought the Camaro/Firebrid LS1 dual fan set-up. I havent installed yet but I hear this is a good way to go.

You can pick these up on Ebay for 60-100.

I think I'm gonna run my truck up to the shop that I have it worked on occasionally and run a couple of these ideas by the mechanic that I work with.

I like the altima fan setup, but at the same time I'm a little hesitant because of some of the fab work involved and my lack of tools to do that with. I'm kinda thinking now that I may get a one of the 100 dollar fans from Summit and mount it the way my current fan is. I'd ultimately like to get what see ten has but my checking account just isn't having that at the moment and I feel like I need something soon.

Keep the suggestions and examples coming, thanks for the help.

There is almost 0 fab work to the altima fans. really all it takes is 2 pieces of angle that are the right length with 4 holes drilled in each at the right spot and then wire it up.

Its the 2800cfm one. Ordered it on summits site. Its the one that comes with all the wires and thermo switch in a kit. I might get it in time for this weekend, if not it might be another week before I get to it....

Whats the difference between the 150 and 165 models? Is the 165 version 15 bucks more just because its the direct fit for the toyotas?

Yep. Its a special version so they charge more. I ordered the 150. I like the idea of this unit because I think I can hide it well and still look nice. The dual fans seem a bit overkill for a mild engine and kinda look ugly to me.... Wish me luck

I think I'm gonna put in an order for a 150. The guy at the shop who helps me out on my truck recommended a black magic fan as well and I just feel best about those and it fits my budget. Thanks for all the help, thats why this site is so great. I'll be sure to update any further developments.

farside, I'm interested to see how your setup goes, keep us posted.

I used the duel fan set up that Wes from Classic Heartbeat sells. This unit is easy to install and comes with everything you need. It mounts right up to stock radiator for a real clean look.And this sucker moves some air.

I made some brackets and used a dual fan set-up from a late 80s firebird. it was pretty easy.

ok guys the camaro fans are a good to excellent setup but the lincoln mark 8 fan is the best single fan setup bar none I have both the mark 8 fans have 2 speeds almost like the camaros one fan comes on then the other. just my 2 cents

I ran across a fan thread just this week talking about elec fan shrouds with and without extra holes in them to allow more air through them at highway speeds. Something about the fans couldn't freewheel fast enough to let enough air through there to prevent heating up on the road. Does Wes's setup have those extra vents and has anyone here ran into this?
