Header Collector Gasket ?'s
Gonna replace my header gaskets at the collectors.
Are the new copper or aluminum type as good as I hear? Which is better, copper or aluminum? ------------------

I tryed the copper,& didnt like them(the ring seemed to distort the flanges when tightened up). I just have the Hooker gaskets now,but am thinking about trying aluminum......69 longhorn.

I have the aluminum ones on mine and will NEVER use anything else.
When I bought them, i had cheap nasty warped headers, they did the trick when the paper wouldn't. I have been running the same ones since '98, and have disconnected the headers countless times. I even put them on another set of headers all together. Still, no leaks. ------------------ '69 G.M.C. 350/350. My collector flanges already have the bent together problem from when the previous owner installed the headers then over tightened the collector flanges. Now they are leaking.
Can I beat the flanges back some and still use aluminum gaskets? The aluminum appear to be more of a thick spacer, correct? ------------------

It is kind of a spacer, but more like a gasket. Picture the real thick gasket you always find under a stock quadrajet.

Yup, that's how it normally goes. You got a d@mn good price there too.
You gotta figure if a cheap b@stard like me is using $25 collector gaskets, they must be worth it. ------------------ '69 G.M.C. 350/350.
