TrailMaster 3" drop spindles help!! please

Let the problems start again. Well I finally got settled in the new house and starting working on big red again. But ran in to some problems firs I was cheep and bought those TrailMaster 3” drop spindles off Ebay some time ago and finally got around to putting the 73+ tie rods in well they won’t fit?? The hole in the spindle is too small?? Is any one else running these? The second problem is I got those adjuster sleeves from cpp from a board member well the side that goes to the 73+ tie rod threads fine but the one to the old inter one will not thread??

Re: TrailMaster 3" spindles

I am using the CPP sleve. I used a 67-70 outer tie rods as a inners and I used 73 outer as outers. Depending on the center link you have the 67-70 outers used as inners could be too small for the center link. Mabye you need 71-72 outers to fit the spindle ?

Re: TrailMaster 3" spindles

I went to the parts store today and looked at the "right centerline" some one over the years has swapped something on me!! fun fun LOL I got the right ones no to see if the fit to the centerline as for my spindles it is so close I think I am going to just drill it out a bit and .....yes the 66 is on SD web site the yellow wide body is also mine

Re: TrailMaster 3" spindles

Tom , I think the Trailmaster spindles they are using are 73+ fitment.

But, Belltech now makes a 3 inch drop spindle for 71-72 trucks. It's a straight bolt on with no changing of ball joints or tie rod ends. Summit has them in stock.

Re: TrailMaster 3" spindles

Hey bigred,

If you drill your spindles out be careful (of course) but they do make tapered drill bits for just the job. I am not sure what they would cost, but you lock your spindles up in a vise and slowly open those holes up. Doing it this way will keep the hole tapered instead of straight through.

Keith

Re: TrailMaster 3" spindles

close I just used a round file lightly and they slid right in. As for my tie rods I am pretty sure some one flipped them on me over the years that’s why they would not thread right. Either way I got it all back together once I bought the new inter tie rod ends (they needed replaced any way). But now its to d*** cold to work on it. Thanks

Re: TrailMaster 3" spindles

Yes you were the one who sold them to me. Thanks again! I don’t think so I just had some wrong parts on the truck LOL. They worked fine thanks. I got them in just in time for it to get colder than a well diggers ass. So I haven’t got to play with it much yet. Thanks
