metal work on tv. trucks!

I was watching a show called trucks a while back. the guy on there said there was a company that sold metal cut outs to shave everything on the 67 - 72 chevy truck. (door handles, sidemakers, stuff like that). does anyone know the name of the company or a website that might have them.

Re: metal work on tv. trucks!

I don't think Turner is selling things anymore, I've heard people say he is really hard to get a hold of now.

Re: metal work on tv. trucks!

yeah, i have that episode of Trucks! saved on my Tivo.

the guys at FullSizeChevy.com forums posted this information back in '04:

Quote:
basically what happened was his wife had to have some major surgery and stuff and he had to take care of her so he kind of neglected the shop.

The website used to be www.turnersrodsntrucks.com I believe.

....

Unfortunately things went sour for him and he wasn't able to take care of his business.
So, it seems that the dealer is really Bill Turner?

Here's the thread I''m referencing:

http://www.fullsizechevy.com/forums/...oto=nextnewest

I see N2TRUX is also a member at FSC. I've been visiting their forums for al ong time, but never really registered.

So, it seems that our member/dealer PhantomDually is really Bill Turner? I could be wrong, so don't quote me on that.

Ok, ok! I got the idea b/c someone at the FullSizeChevy site was saying that "Bill had some great ideas - look at his work hacking this crossmember!" and then linked to a thread with that going on. It didn't make sense to me at all how Bill could be a board member and nobody would know who he was, but whatever...

My apologies - I'll edit my post above - if you want to edit yours to remove my reference, feel free

Re: metal work on tv. trucks!

Now please do not take this the wrong way but if you can not make these parts it is probly not a good idea for you to be welding them in. I say this because I have had to fix way to much work that guys thought they could do and found out the hard way they could not. It is not a good idea to try learning on a truck body with so many slight curved areas that will warp before you know it.

But if you want to try it, I would just take an old door and cut the pieces out for the corisponding area that you need. This way you have the right curves for the filler pieces you want. One door should get you the metal you would need for the marker lights, doors handle fill-ins and some extra to play with.

Re: metal work on tv. trucks!

I've heard alot of people say some bad things about his stuff. I ordered the kit with all the metal pieces to shave my truck from him a while back and was not impressed with the fit at all. I wish I would have made them myself with the time I spent fixing his.
