Any pics of 2001 style dually bed on a 72

Has anyone done or know of a current one piece style dually longbed on a 67-72 truck? Any negative issues on this mod other than expensive repairs if damaged (looks like fiberglass sides). Any pictures of one of these beds on our trucks?

i've only seen a handfull of duallies for our era, with our style beds though or a flatbed. the problem would be matching the body lines.

The body lines don't match up at all. The 88-98 trucks are close, the 99-06 beds aren't close at all.

and some would argue the 88 - 98 being close.

Re: Any pics of 2001 style dually bed on a 72

To edit my post, the 88-98 stepside beds fit OK, the fleetsides match kinda ok on the lower bodyline, but the upper part sticks out past the cab and looks kinda funny ...but like I said, the 99-06 beds are nowhere near close, not even the stepsides, which would only be a 99-05. (no more stepsides after 05).

Re: Any pics of 2001 style dually bed on a 72

Is it just the body lines or the dimensions (width, height, wheelbase) that are off. Looks like the bedsides are made of fiberglass from the picture below and shouldn't be that difficult to change the body lines if the dimenions are close enough.

Could someone photoshop the first picture onto a 72

Re: Any pics of 2001 style dually bed on a 72

The pictures of the bed above is not mine, I borrowed them off of ebay. This is the first time I realized these bedsides were not metal. I figured if the height, width and wheelbase lined up, I could match lines just in front of the hump and on top near the cab, eliminate the lines on the hump and behind the hump, and round the wheel well. I figured it might not be hard to do with fiberglass. I really like the curves of this bed. Looks like it can look good with a slammed phantom dually also like hoss69 last pic (I think that's what they call them with single wide tires)

Thanks for the pictures! I'm going to have to take my tape measure and measure one

Is that your bed? According to a body man I know it is some kind of plastic. If you end up scrapping that I need a piece off the bottom rear drivers side to patch mine up.

another difference would be the wheel well. the 67-72 is very round, while the new ones are more square. i know i'll end up photoshopping this since you asked and i can't resist. but resizing the pics to fit each other might not be like real life where you can't really resize 2 things together.

I was kinda curious about this mod. as well. I looked for this style of bed while doing my buildup but I am happy (ok ecstatic) about what I got.

I did at least go with a '99+ light identification bar (bar of three).

Re: Any pics of 2001 style dually bed on a 72

i photoshopped the bed on a short, long, and longhorn wheelbase. the longhorn seems to fit best but it's most distorted. i need to find that members yahoo photo page so i can download a good side shot of his truck. i know there's one on there but i couldn't remember the name of the owner.

that's actually very popular, many people do that.

and chevy fatman, i was driving around town and i saw a 69-70 with a 88-98 short fleetside bed on it, and f150 mirrors. crazy, but it works. so if looks don't matter then i mean... go for it. i have also seen a 88-98 work truck that proably didn't come with a bed on it, but the owner had a 73-87 bed on it. it was the ugliest thing i've seen because the 73-87s have that sharp bodyline high up and 88-98s don't and well you can picture it.

I saw this truck in KC today and thought of this thread, it has the later style sport side fenders grafted on to the correct bed for these years. Looks pretty good but still has the more squared wheel opening instead of round to match the front.

I agree, I really like the look, from that angle anyway. I wonder why he didn't stick with the stock tail lights
