anyone used these??

My friend has a wrangler, and seems pretty happy with a similar setup....but thats a wrangler.... So, If I am looking for a 4" lift, is this a good compromise? (was thinking I might want 4 might want 6, this would allow me to put on add-a-leafs if i need a little more, without needing all new springs.) any opinions or advice would be appreciated.

I guess it just depends on what you're looking to do with your rig as to how you set it up. I will reitterate... I love my homemade setup & it was a lot cheaper than ORD's. It's not that hard to adjust it either to get 2" or 3" 4" of lift out of them... whatever you need to get your truck sitting how you want it. I still haven't got pics of mine on here but I am closer now, ma & pa got a new digital camera so soon...I promise. Oh, & good luck.

I'll agree on the flip. If you look at other trucks built, they use the same setup as what you end up with when you flip the shackle on a chevy. (I think Dodges are set up that way, hafta look again) With stock or Heavy duty replacement shackles I'd still say it would be ok to do everything you want to do with it.
Shackle flips are great because you don't need new rear springs. The flipping of the shackle nets the lift you want with the added bonus of a flatter spring. heavliy arched springs (lift springs) don't flex as well as flatter springs. Thats why a lot are moving from stock 52" springs (and putting them up front) and moving to 56" (stock 3/4 ton) or 57" (f150 stock) or 64" springs from a 88-98 CK truck. This is with a shackle flip of course. The stock 52" spring with a shackle flip makes for one nice riding, flexy rear suspension that can still handle loads as it was set up for. Ord's are nice for flip kits (pricy), Sky has another kit (slightly less pricy) and DIY4x has the newest setup. The DIY setup drops the stock shackle in place of a heavy duty shackle made from thick flat stock (2 pc). All are beefy but the DIY kit is the beefy-est of them all. Still you can do your own like Bowtier did. OR Go to the boneyard and get a front spring hanger (rear spring) from a 2wd truck (73-87), remove the stock hanger and install the front hanger in the rear. Requires a little fab work to do. I've got a flip kit from a now defunct shop out of AZ. I love how it rides, gave me the lift to match 4" springs up front and flexes nice.

If i ever do another lifted rig I will do what I had on my 1 ton blazer.
used the front shckles of the rear springs from a 74-75 blazer. Gave me perfect pinion angle and 4" of lift combined with my add-a-leaf.A total of 6" suspension I have jumped, flexed, towed and daily drove this blazer for a long time before I sold it. I mud raced it for 5-6 years with this setup. Not one issue with it..

just using the front shackles of the rear springs on the front gave you 4" of lift? The shackle replaced the front or rear shackle for the front springs?
How did you raise the rear?

I was able to ride fine and still look not to awkward with 35's.. but i drove on 36's and was still able to play with 38's

I think to clarify, the shackle is the same from stock, the rear spring hanger is what was changed. In his case, using the rear spring FRONT hanger in the rear location is what he used to create the flip.
